Terms & Conditions: Self-Guided Multi Day Tours
Book with Confidence
You can count on us to be reasonable, understanding and flexible in applying the following cancellation policies. Fairness is our goal.
We require a $400 deposit per person to reserve your guided or self-guided multi-day tour. If you need to cancel, your deposit is refundable up to 60 days prior to your tour departure date, less a $50 administration fee per person. The retained admin fee can be used as a credit for a future reservation. This is our way of helping make travel less financially risky in these unsettled times so you can just focus on having fun and enjoying your vacation.
If you have to cancel less than 31 days prior, cancellation is $700 plus cost of hotels if they can’t be cancelled.
Full payment for your trip is due 30 days before your trip begins. Please contact us if circumstances might delay your full payment so that we can ensure that your reservation and deposit are secure.
Coming and Going
Our tours begin and end at the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa or the Old House Hotel. If you wish to arrive a night early – or stay longer in Campbell River at the end of your tour – you can book online. All tours end in Campbell River. Your transportation to the Comox Valley is included in the tour price on the last day of your tour only. If you would like to stay longer, we are happy to help you with the next part of your holiday.
Who Can Be a Joy Rider?
We welcome everyone from age 13 and up (but if you’re under 19, you need to bring a parent). Families wishing to book a tour are encouraged to contact us about our private tours. We will be happy to design a holiday especially for you.
Single Joy Riders
Our trip prices are based on double occupancy. If you’re a single rider and would like to share a room, we’ll do our best to match you with a like-minded rider of the same sex. Otherwise, a single supplement will apply.
Rider Responsibilities
Joy Riders are required to sign a Participant Waiver Form. Island Joy Rides reserves the right to deny participation to any individual prior to or during the trip if this person’s behaviour substantially interferes with the general enjoyment and well-being of other tour members. (That’s our lawyer again!) Island Joy Rides liability in such a case will be limited to the actual cost of the unused services.
Helmets
Our trip includes the use of a top quality bicycle and helmet. Your safety is crucial to us and so we require you to wear a helmet. (It’s the law in B.C.!) Feel free to bring your own – but feel confident that ours are first rate. For more information about appropriate cycle wear, please refer to our FAQ page.
Insurance
We highly recommend that all international guests carry medical travel insurance while on our tour. We recommend that you consider trip cancellation insurance, as well.
Your Privacy
Although we have to collect some information about you in order to plan our trip and ensure your comfort and safety, we are committed to respecting your privacy and to protecting the security of your personal information. Island Joy Rides will not sell, rent, lease, trade or disclose information about our guests to third parties unless required by law.
Any personal information collected by Island Joy Rides using online forms is stored in password protected servers with limited access. However, perfect security on the Internet does not yet exist and we cannot guarantee that our transfer of data over the Internet is impenetrable or invulnerable to hackers.
Itinerary
Island Joy Rides reserves the right to alter itineraries, when necessary. Less than four guests, weather and hotel availability may result in a change.
Terms and Conditions: Day Tours
Reserve a Joy Ride
We require a deposit of $200 per group at the time of registration to guarantee your tour date. Full payment is then due one month before your tour. If you are booking within 2 weeks of your tour date, full payment is due with your registration. We would like one person in the group to be identified as our contact for all tour correspondence.
Coming and Going
Generally, our day tours can begin and end wherever you’d like. However, we do have our preferred routes that highlight our favourite things in each community so we can identify our suggested starting points if preferred.

Rider Responsibilities
All Joy Riders are required to sign a Participant Waiver Form. Failure to submit these completed forms will be considered a cancellation and our cancellation policies will apply. (Sorry for this bit of legal heaviness). Cancellation
If you must cancel a tour, there will be a $50 administration fee up to 3 days before your tour. If you need to cancel within 48 hours, 50% of your tour will be refunded. If it’s the day before and we haven’t cancelled your tour, you will not receive a refund. If we must (heaven forbid) cancel a day tour, we will provide a full refund. Refunds will not be given to groups that fail to show for a tour. Depending on how payment was made – refunds can take up to 10 days to process. We aim to ride rain or shine (humans are water proof), however, sometimes we decide we have to cancel or reschedule a tour due to weather. If this is the case we will reschedule or provide a full refund.
Terms & Conditions: Bike Rentals
